I Am Trying To Decided What Kind Of Stroller Travel System For My Soon To Be Born Baby?

March 72010

I was going to get the Graco Mosaic Travel system, but I just read a bunch of reviews, and most people hated it! I need to know which travel systems people love, without having to spend an arm and a leg. Please help!

I can't tell you what system that is out there that is good because it is kind of a personal choice. Mine is 9 years old and I have hated it from almost day 1. If I had known I was going to have 3 kids, I'd have gotten a better one. Here's what I would look for now:

1. High enough handles for pushing comfortably.
2. Steerability - can it manuever around those pesky center aisle displays that stores insist on having.
3. Ease to collapse, open
4. Seat position. Can it adjust to laying back and completely upright. Mine never fully came upright, was always slightly reclined which toddlers hate.
5. Storage for packages, diaper bag, cell phone, drink bottles.
6. Adjustable foot support - those dangling legs get tired and a tired toddler is cranky!
7. A handle that can be adjusted from pushing from one side to the other... example would be when you are pushing into the sun, can you swing the push arm the other way so the child is now facing you or away from the direction you are going.

Hope that helps. Go to the store and try out as many as they have.

Have you ever really looked at the mothers who push around those grocery-cart-sized grotesque Graco plastic trolleys? It looks ridiculous, because it _is_ ridiculous.

A newborn is not very heavy. Get a sling or other soft carrier and strap him on and go. The idea that you need a "travel system" = bollocks.

If you find after birth that you are desperate to stop touching your baby and really want to push several feet of plastic in front of you everywhere you go, the stores will still be open. But do yourself and your baby a favour and don’t waste your money.

The chicco keyfit got really good reviews on consumer reports and on most websites I’ve looked at, you can buy the whole travel system or the stroller and carseat seperately.

Sorry, haven’t got to actually use a stroller yet (I’m 30 weeks pregnant) so I can’t give any first hand experience.

You’re always going to find bad reviews, no matter what you’re looking at.

Your best bet is to go into a store and test them out yourself. We did this with ours(purchased at Babies R Us) and decided that WE liked it. It does have a few bad reviews but we haven’t had a problem with it and our son is almost 7 months old.

I’m getting one of those strollers that has a car seat and carrier thing like all together.
i think they’re made by Eddie Bauer
    about 200-350 i think
and I hear they’re very good.

I have an evenflo. You can open the stroller with one hand. It’s very easy to use. I didn’t like the carseat for the first few weeks though. My baby was so small and the straps were hard to adjust. Now that she’s bigger, it is fine.

We had the graco quattro in deco – which I’m going to assume that is very similar to what you were looking at? However, we really liked it! Our son is almost 5 months old and he’s too heavy to keep carting around in the carrier, so we leave it hooked in the base and just take HIM in and out of it. But, for the stroller – we love that stroller that came with the travel system.

My friends had the Chicco travel systems and really liked them, but they told me that the infant carrier did not fit into most grocery store carts – and the Graco one does… so that was a nice feature.

Also, we got the graco sweet peace swing……… and if you have a graco infant carrier, it will fit into the swing base!!! Love that idea!!!

    Reviews are great…. !!!
    Good luck!

make sure the stroller folds easily, is easy to pick up, and fits nicely in your car. Make sure the car seat easily snaps onto the stroller. Mine has these funny little things you have to line up, it’s a pain. It’s all personal preference.

People always will have something to hate about everything. Don’t worry about negative reviews.

I have the Graco Passage Travel System – Bancroft and I totally love it. It’s easy to just put in her carseat in the stroller if we have to walk anywhere, and we don’t even have to wake her up to move her from the carseat to the stroller. Try toys-r-us. They have a great selection, it’s not very expensive and even give you a free umbrella stroller with any purchase!
