Joovy Kooper Umbrella Stroller Or The Maclaren XT?

March 312010

I need a light weight stroller for my five month old son and am torn between these two based on some reviews I have read. Can anyone tell me their thoughts on the two? I am looking to purchase older models of the two. The Joovy seems to have great sun protection and the Maclaren XT doesn't seem to have that feature, or am I wrong?
Please advise.
Here are links to Amazon for each stroller:

Also, the prices used are:
Maclaren XT $75 with rain cover-the wheels have some wear and tear
Joovy Kooper:$100 excellent condition-only $69 plus shipping less than amazon

I have the Maclaren Techno XLR. It folds down really nice and is light weight. Easy to maneuver (Sp?) Fits in my trunk and leaves lots of space ( honda accord and Honda Civic) And it has a bar that goes across to fit most infant carseats. We have been very happy with our stroller. I was surprised by the weight. Expected it to be heavier.
The maclaren has a zipper in the back of the top of the cover. You unzip it and the cover comes down more to cover most of the child. Legs might be exposed but thats about it. I have a 7 month old so I havent used it too much without the carseat.

Also, if you go with the Maclaren...make sure they have the repair kit from the recall or you'll need to contact Maclaren and get it. Its free and its hinge covers. Nothing drastic. But all models were affected for the last 10 years 1999-2009
